It’s not about the title you hold, but rather the transformation that you bring.
It’s not about your business card, it’s about your calling card. It’s not about visibility, just so you can be seen. It’s so that you can be found.
It’s more than tactics, and more than strategy. This is about mastery, and your willingness, dedication and commitment to be known for doing one thing, exceptionally well.
Being the sought out expert then, is not about you, it’s about them. Do you know them? Do you love them? Are you doing what you do for them, or for you? Remind yourself to tie your why to your tribe!
When this shift happened for me, it changed my life.
When I let go of needing the accolades and attention, needing to be seen and the exhausting climb it demanded, everything changed for me. I shifted my focus and because I saw things differently, I did things differently.
I embraced the gifts that were mine alone.
The gifts, given to me specifically by my Creator, my birthright. Mine to have, but not mine to hold, not to hoard and hold close to my chest. Instead they were to share and bless others, my birth responsibility. "To whom much is given much is expected." Luke 12:48 "Faithful in little, faithful in much." Luke 16:10
Where has this brought me?
A dismantling of what I held dear, on a climb that was not meant for me. I’m meant for a different mountain. One more wholeheartedly aligned to who I am, the work I do, the way I do and who I do it for.
Maybe that doesn’t bring me as much into the limelight as it once did, but what I know is, today’s headline is on tomorrow’s recycle pile.
So, I’d rather be a North Star than I shooting star.
Austin Kleon reminds us, "It’s not about the noun, do the verb." And Aristotle, "We are what we repeatedly do! Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit."
I needed something more steady and true, more soulful and sustaining. A way to work that is more genuine and authentic, and it keeps bringing me back to mastery.

I’m imploring you! I know that’s a strong word, but I’m using it. I’m imploring you to go for genius, to open every gift you’ve been given. I’m challenging you to let go of what comes with a title and embrace what comes with a journey of transformation for you and those you serve.
Today is 9/11. In a heartbeat, our nation was forever changed.
We’re in the middle of a pandemic, and uncertainty looms. Wildfires are raging in CA and the Pacific Northwest, where people’s homes and a lifetime of memories, could go up in smoke and be gone in a flash. We don’t know how much time we have. Maybe today, a year or decades more. What I know is there is no time to waste, especially now.
So, be brave with me, Sage sisters.
Let’s pursue our Signature Sage Success like a prize, and keep pursuing it to mastery, as we gather those around us in our respective tribes, and serve them single-mindedly and wholeheartedly.
